Bircan is always a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, pleasant and kind teacher.
I am Bircan, native Turkish, and a qualified and experienced Turkish Language teacher.
I studied Turkish Language Education, Master and Ph.D. in Turkey. I have been teaching Turkish for over 17 years to many different students who come from different cultures. I taught Turkish at a university in London for about three years. I really enjoyed being in London and found it to be a culturally diverse and cosmopolitan city. Now I work at a university in Turkey.
I would like to teach Turkish to anyone who has a passion to learn and wants to learn an elegant form of Turkish. I consider myself as a friendly, highly motivated person and very passionate about my language. I have been teaching Turkish at various levels, including GCSE/ A-Level and exam preparation.
Qualifications & Experience
I have been working at a university in the Department of Turkish Language Education as a Teaching Fellow for 4,5 years. I worked in London as a Teaching Fellow and I taught Turkish many foreign students for about 3 years. Before London, I worked at a university as a research assistant at Turkish Language Education, and firstly I worked in the schools for about 6 years as a Turkish Language Teacher in Turkey.
In addition, I have been doing many kinds of research on the Turkish language, teaching Turkish to foreign students, and bilingual education. Some of my research manuscripts were published in the international journals in education and I presented some of them at international symposiums, conferences, and congresses such as the International Symposium on Language Education and Teaching at the Universita Degli Studi Roma Tre (Italy), International Conference for Academic Disciplines at the University of London (United Kingdom).
Teaching Approach
I use different approaches in my classes as every individual is unique in their abilities, aptitude, and preferred learning style, I endeavor to tailor each program of lessons accordingly using a combination of differentiated and varied materials.
Firstly I am organized for every lesson. I would always like to make sure that I am prepared for the lesson that I understand the aims of the session and to make a lesson plan. Secondly, I make sure that my students are comfortable and ready to start learning and I always ensure what the students want to learn in each session. My lesson is never boring and never passive for either the students or the teacher.
I use my own materials to teach and also use other materials from other experts. Generally, I prefer to use cultural objects about Turkey and Turkish. Thus the students will be able to think and speak easily like a native Turkish.
It does not matter whatever the reason is why you want to learn Turkish for, i.e. for travel, to use in daily life, for your business, for academic Turkish, or whether you need to prepare for GCSE/A-Level Turkish, we can work together.
You can try my trial lesson. I hope you will soon join the group of my students :)
