About me - English
Hello! My name is Dimitris Charalambides and I am an honors graduate of the Department of History and Archaeology of the School of Philosophy of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. I love teaching, whether it's Greek, history, philosophy or any other area of classics. I believe deeply in the importance of the Humanities in the modern world and I try to express and transmit my love and respect for the subject through the teaching and courses I deliver.
In my spare time, I am involved in reading, sports, and I like to travel and learn something new every day.
Qualifications & Experience
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree (BA) in History and Archaeology, of the school of philosophy, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2020-2024), where I graduated with honours (8,77/10).
Currently I am studying for my Master's degree (MA) in Historical Research (2024-).
I also hold a Certificate of Proficiency (ECPE) in English (C2)
and an A2 State Certificate of Proficiency in German.
For the last 3 years, I delivered courses of: Modern and Ancient Greek, History, Philosophy, Sociology and Latin.
My students were mostly undergraduate students, some of them being from abroad without any knowledge of Greek.
I also offered lessons to secondary school students of all levels.
The classes took place in Thessaloniki, except for the online courses.
Teaching Approach
In order to make the teaching more effective and fun, the courses are adapted to the student's needs, goals and level. Although the teaching process varies from student to student according to the level and goals, there are certain rules when it comes to learning Greek.
In order for the student to essentially understand the language and reach the point of using it efficiently, it is necessary to learn some grammatical and syntactic rules. Therefore, each lesson will devote time to rules and exercises of grammar, syntax, while each time we will practice our Greek to examine how we are progressing.
The student will receive, depending on their free time, exercises on what was taught and of course a list of words to enrich their vocabulary.
However, all the above depend on factors such as the duration of the course, the progress made, the time they want and can spend and of course their goals.
