My name is James and I live in London, England. Thank you for clicking on my profile.

I have been teaching English as a foreign language for 16 years and have taught English to students from all over the world (beginners English all the way to CPE and postgraduate English).

I currently teach English part-time at a local language school, and this allows me to teach English online 6 days a week. I generally have around 35 time-slots available per week, giving you a great deal of flexibility when choosing YOUR lesson times.

I have taught English in the UK as well as the UAE, Thailand and Japan.

As well as living in these cities, I have travelled to all 6 continents and visited over 100 cities. Travel is like an endless education, you never stop learning.

In my free time, I like to play/watch sports, mainly football, F1 and tennis. I also enjoy reading business journals, gardening and collecting rare whiskies and bottled beers from all over the world.

EXPERIENCE

I have taught children, high-school & university students as well as adults and seniors, both in one-on-one situations and in groups. I have taught beginners' level English all the way through to advanced English & exam preparation (IELTS and Cambridge ESOL). My previous two teaching positions were with the Ministry of Education in the UAE and Kansai University in Japan.

I have extra teaching qualifications for Young Learners and Business English. I have taught both IELTS and TOEFL, and I am a certified University of Cambridge Oral Examiner (KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE).

My teaching approach is based solely around what YOU want and what YOUR expectations are.

I like to adopt a communicative approach that sets clear, achievable goals for each lesson. Together we can choose topics, such as booking a flight, making small talk to foreign clients, shopping in Paris, TED talks, etc., and base the lesson around these situations and what language, phrases, and structures you will need.

Alternatively, many students ask me to proofread presentations/assignments and help prepare them for English exams.

At the end of the lesson, I will give you a lot of positive feedback, and let you know what areas we can improve on. This way, YOUR English, especially your fluency and accuracy, will improve quickly.

Learning English should be enjoyable, so I always encourage YOU to do most of the speaking. You can ask questions anytime. Questions help both you and me!
