My name is Pashalis (Πασχάλης), I come from Greece, and I am a certified Modern Greek language tutor with more than 10 years of experience. I hold a BA in Greek Philology, a MA's degree in Modern Greek and Comparative Literature, both from the University of Crete, and a certificate in teaching Modern Greek as second/foreign language from the Center for Greek Language in Thessaloniki.

My career as a tutor begun back in 2008 when I started teaching elementary Modern Greek to immigrants and refugees in Crete, Greece. In 2010, I moved to Poland where I taught Modern Greek at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan.

I have a broad experience in teaching Modern Greek at all levels according to the Common European Framework for Languages (A1-C2) both in classroom and to individual students and online, and I have successfully prepared students for the Certificate of Modern Greek Language exams (Πιστοποίηση Ελληνομάθειας).

My teaching is based on the communicative method, aiming at the development of all language skills, combined with the teaching of grammar and syntax so that the student will acquire also the proper language structures. Moreover, I strongly believe that language is culture and culture is language, so the necessary historical and cultural context in which Modern Greek developed and is spoken today makes an essential part of my classes.

All my lessons are tailored to fit the student’s level and needs. I provide the students with my own teaching material that includes a variety of oral and written texts, grammar and vocabulary exercises as well as online interactive games that make learning more fun. Finally, during my lessons I use an interactive online whiteboard that gives the feeling of an actual classroom, while every student gets his own virtual class where he/she can find all the necessary learning material but also song lists, dictionaries and cultural material (magazines etc.).
